About your trip

The Bike and Boot, Derbyshire

Relaxed, contemporary and comfortable hotel welcoming all. Featuring a hybrid bar-restaurant-café & on-site facilities for dogs and walkers. It is the perfect location for a dog friendly break providing a gateway to the Peaks. Breakfast, dinner, accommodation and all activities included in the package price.

A Wonderful Dog Walking Break in the Peaks

On your first morning you will lace up your boots and leave straight from the hotel for a walk through pretty woodland and to the iconic Ladybower Dam. After a coffee break you will take on the small but mighty Win Hill and take a steady route up to reach the summit which packs a punch. The 360 views are breathtaking and it's the perfect spot for a picnic. We head back off the hill through pretty fields to the hotel and for an afternoon of self exploration. The walk will take from 4 - 5 hours with plenty of breaks and can be easily altered in case of hot or wet weather.

We recommend any free time in the afternoon wandering around the pretty village of Castleton. And can advise on a few dog friendly places to visit or activities to take part in.  Have you ever seen a dog on an underground boat?

Day 2 is departure day so we'll drive out to nearby Hathersage for a shorter stroll below the stunning Stanage Edge, seeing a few sites of literary interest along the way. This will be a restful 2 hour walk with time to enjoy nature. Finishing up in Hathersage there is an option for a celebratory finish in one of the cafes or pubs. Dog friendly of course!

One dog per person please to ensure proper controls during the walks.

Please note: The Peaks have an abundance of wildlife (including deer and grazing animals). Lots of exciting scents for doggy noses. So we would need to ensure that everyone involved is committed to controlling their dogs at all times.  We will recommend off-lead opportunities, during the walks for active dogs with excellent recall.
